Product Overview

What are Paper Covered Aluminium Strips?

Paper Covered Aluminium Strips are rectangular aluminium conductors insulated by wrapping one or more layers of specialised insulating paper around the bare conductor. After assembly into transformer windings, the paper insulation is typically impregnated with transformer oil or insulating varnish, improving dielectric strength and thermal performance.

Unlike enamel insulation, paper insulation offers superior compatibility with oil-filled transformers and provides excellent mechanical flexibility during winding operations. These conductors are widely used in low-voltage and high-voltage transformer windings, reactors, and other heavy-duty electrical equipment.

Features of Paper Covered Aluminium Strips

Our Paper Covered Aluminium Strips are manufactured to deliver reliable electrical performance and long-term durability.

Product Range

Paper Insulation Options

Different transformer designs require different insulation systems. Depending on the application, paper-covered aluminium strips can be supplied with:

Kraft Paper

The most commonly used insulation material for distribution and power transformers. It provides excellent dielectric properties and mechanical strength.

Thermally Upgraded Kraft Paper (TUK)

Designed for transformers operating at higher temperatures, offering improved thermal endurance and longer insulation life.

Crepe Paper

Provides enhanced flexibility and oil absorption, making it suitable for winding applications where improved conformability is required.

Multiple Paper Layer Covering

Available in Double Paper Covered (DPC), Triple Paper Covered (TPC), and Multi-Layer Paper Covering (MPC). The number of paper layers depends on the voltage rating, insulation requirement, and transformer design.

Why Paper Covered Aluminium

Advantages of Paper Covered Aluminium Strips

These conductors are particularly suitable for oil-filled transformer windings because the paper insulation provides excellent compatibility with insulating oils and reliable dielectric performance.

Lightweight Construction

Aluminium has approximately one-third the density of copper, reducing the overall weight of transformers and simplifying handling during manufacturing and installation.

Cost-Effective Solution

Provides an economical alternative to copper while maintaining dependable electrical performance in designs intended for aluminium conductors.

Excellent Electrical Insulation

The paper insulation system delivers strong dielectric properties, making it suitable for high-voltage transformer winding applications.

Good Oil Compatibility

Paper insulation readily absorbs transformer oil, improving insulation performance and heat dissipation within oil-filled transformers.

Mechanical Flexibility

The paper covering allows smooth winding around transformer cores while reducing the risk of insulation damage during manufacturing.

Reliable Long-Term Performance

When correctly installed and impregnated, paper covered aluminium strips provide excellent durability and dependable service in demanding electrical environments.
